The Miracle
(Continued)
I asked my Father to put me in a certain chair the next morning before he went into his Chiropractic clinic which was a part of our large home. I wanted to watch Mother in the kitchen cooking and the clock. When the clock reached the hour I designated, I quietly began taking off my braces. They dropped to the floor, I jumped down out of the chair, and ran across the room to my Mother. She screamed and my Father left his clinic and asked what was wrong? After hearing what happened, he immediately called Dr. Clarence R. Martin, my Orthopedic Surgeon in Houston, Texas. Dr. Martin, who was a devoted Catholic, was very upset until my Father explained to him about the dreams. Dr. Martin responded by saying I could walk, but to be very careful and he would see me at my next appointment.
Even though, there was still more work to be done, everyone around us praised God for the miracle. I was walking pidgeon-toed, so they performed surgery to straighten my legs. I again spent another year in body casts, followed with braces, crutches and extensive rehabilitation, learning to walk three times before I was five years of age. I was never athletic, but was thankful for every step I took. In order to strengthen my body, I danced for eight years, learning ballet, tap, and toe, and learned to swim thereafter. I also became interested in playing the Piano and Singing during this time.
This experience is true, despite my young age and ability to remember the details. It was so vivid and still real in my heart and spirit. My continual prayer is for my life to be a living testimony of what is possible with God if we only believe.
